What is BULLYING???

Bullying refers to a form of aggressive behavior that involves the repeated use of power or force to intimidate, harm, or control another individual or group. It typically occurs in a social setting, such as schools, workplaces, or online platforms.

Bullying can take various forms, including physical, verbal, or relational aggression. Physical bullying involves direct physical actions, such as hitting, kicking, pushing, or damaging personal property. Verbal bullying includes using words or language to demean, insult, or threaten the victim, often through name-calling, teasing, or spreading rumors. Relational bullying focuses on manipulating social relationships, such as excluding someone from a group, spreading gossip, or undermining social status.

Bullying can have severe negative effects on the victim, leading to emotional distress, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and even physical harm. It can also impact the overall atmosphere of the community, creating an unsafe and hostile environment. Recognizing and addressing bullying is essential to promoting a healthy and inclusive environment for all individuals.

Bullying is a pervasive issue that affects schools worldwide, regardless of their religious affiliations. However, within the context of a Catholic school like Saint Mary's Academy Rosario, addressing bullying becomes even more crucial. As an institution rooted in Catholic values and teachings, the school community is bound to uphold the principles of love, compassion, and respect for one another. This essay explores the significance of addressing bullying in Saint Mary's Academy Rosario and the positive impact it can have on the school community as a whole.
